Fathers And Sons vs. Temple Grafton

14:30, Monday, July 8, 2013
Temple Grafton

Fathers And Sons (200/8 in 43.2 6-ball overs)
and
Temple Grafton (181/7 in 35 6-ball overs)
drew.

Report by Joss Dare:

Another day, another hideous cricket ground in awful weather. This ground, its people and its teas together form the "happy place" for many an FAS cricketer. Along with Fladbury, it is our oldest surviving fixture, both beginning way back in 1984; quite wonderful.

This year saw Jamie Dare excel with the bat, making a "PB" of 31 along with Al "Stoneless" Deighton who was a welcome debutant this year, despite his questionable cycling attire. The expectant crowd was also treated to the clean hitting of Scotty and Jimmy Houlder and the spectacle of the latter running out Jimus Maximus just when he was getting on a roll. Jim was more "Hong Kong Fooey" than "Mild Mannered Janitor" then, I can tell you!

However, TG were cruising towards their target of 201 when a timely four wickets from the MBE brought them to heel. TG shut up shop with a few overs to go and a draw signalled a remove to the Golden Cross, via the wrong pub, in due observance of TG tradition as the epicentre of the FAS Bermuda Triangle.

Fathers And Sons (246/6 in 40 6-ball overs)
defeated
Fladbury (165 all-out in 35.4 6-ball overs)
by 81 runs.

Report by Joss Dare:

Our other fixture from yesteryear produced a romp - a veritable romp - to victory under the direction of The Reverend. FAS put up a monumental 246/6, including a majestic 75 by White Lightning. Fladders stumbled to an FAS-assisted 165 all-out in return.
